When a year ends in 00 (e.g., 1900), the year is said as the digits before 00, followed by “hundred.”

For the years 2001 to 2010, we normally say “two thousand and” followed by the number.
James Joseph Brown died in 2006 (two thousand and six).
For the first years after 2010, we have two different versions.
